The basic rules are very simple, there's a snake which has to eat apples in order to grow and win points. But you have to be careful: if you hit a wall, or another snake, you die. You can already find this game on some mobile phones, and there exist already many other snake freewares or sharewares.

So, what is new and unique in SnakeMe?

First of all, it's a nice game with beautiful colors, and a very ergonomic interface. Judge by yourself:

And it's possible to play alone or with up to three other human players. But there is no need of one computer for each player: it's possible to put two players on the same keyboard, and the two other players can play on joypads if there are some. A game can have a maximum of eight players, so for exemple, if you're only two human players, it possible to add up to 6 computer players (AI).

In the game, there is also a weapon: you can throw bullets. But be careful, there are not much munitions and you have to collect them.

SnakeMe is a completely configurable game: you can choose your levels, your snakes and the appearance you wish to apply to the chosen levels. It's also possible to create your own levels thanks to a very easy to use level editor. If you wish to design new snakes or level themes, that's possible too with the small application Sprite Editor supplied with SnakeMe. Here's a brief list of the specifications of SnakeMe.

SnakeMe gives you:

• Up to 4 human players: two on the keyboard, and two on the joypads, if there are any.

SnakeMe requires:

• Windows (95, 98, ME, NT4, 2000), Linux (x86) or Macintosh (PPC).
• For Windows and Linux: a 486 dx2 (or better) class computer; for Macintosh: an entry PowerPC class computer.
• A SVGA 640x480x16 bpp graphic card (works also with 8 bpp but it's less nice, and with 32 bpp but it's slower on older computers).
• A SoundBlaster 16 sound card, or compatible (44'100Hz 16bit stereo - works also with less, but the sound is ugly).
• 8 Mo of RAM (16 Mo recommended).
• 4 Mo of free space on the hard disk.
• A keyboard and a mouse.
• Joypads and joysticks are supported but not required.
